Courses Leading to Computer Certifications at SCF

CompTIA A+ and Network + Certifications at SCF
The CompTIA A+ certification is the industry standard for computer support technicians.
The CompTIA Network+ certification is the sign of a competent networking professional.
The A+ test is about half hardware and half software. I would recommend the following three courses for A+ Certification
It is recommended that SCF students take the following three courses to best prepare for both the A+ and Net + Certification exams:
1. CTS 1300 Networking & Operating Systems (replaced CET 2791 and CEN 1322) 30%
2. CET 1600 Networking Fundamentals 5%
3. CTS 1150 Microcomputer Hardware and Maintenance (replaced CTS 1260) 65%
These three courses will cover most of the material on the A+ and Net + Certification exams.
But, as is the case with virtually all certification exams, after completing these three courses, and before taking either of these exams, the student should also pick up one or two books with current samples of the test banks for the specific exam that they choose to take.

CompTIA Security+ Certification at SCF
The CompTIA Security+ certification designates knowledgeable professionals in the field of security, one of the fastest-growing fields in IT
It is recommended that SCF students take at least the following courses to best prepare, and pick up one or two books with current samples of the test banks for this exam.
1. CET 1600 Network Fundamentals
2. CTS 1300 Networking and Operating Systems
3. CIS 1355 Security Engineering

Microsoft Security Certification:
The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) on Windows Server is intended for IT professionals who work in the typically complex computing environment of medium to large companies. An MCSE candidate should have at least one year of experience implementing and administering a network operating system in environments.

CCENT Certification at SCF
Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician
It is recommended that SCF students take the following three courses to best prepare for the CCENT Certification exam:
1. CET 1600 Networking Fundamentals
2. CET 1610 Router Technology
3. CTS 1300 Networking & Operating Systems

MCTS: Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist
It is recommended that SCF students take the following courses to best prepare, and pick up one or two books with current samples of the test banks for these exams:

1. CTS 1300 Networking & Operating Systems uses a 70-620 prep book which prepares for:

This will be migrated to Windows 7 over the next year.

2. CET 2792 Support Windows Server
Exam 70-642 Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration, mapping to the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) 70-642 certification exam.

3. CET 2794 Support Active Directory Services in Windows Server Network
Exam 70-640 MCTS: Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory

MCAS: Microsoft Certified Application Specialist
The Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS) credential validates skills in using the 2007 Microsoft Office system and the Windows Vista operating system, meeting the demand for the most up-to-date skills on the latest Microsoft technologies. Candidates who successfully complete the program by passing a certification exam show that they can meet globally recognized performance standards.

It is recommended that SCF students take the following course to best prepare, and pick up one or two books with current samples of the test banks for these exams:
