GENERAL
BIOLOGY at NCF

Course Description:
In this introductory course, we will investigate the mechanisms by
which organisms are formed from macromolecules by covering the following
topics: biological molecules, cellular structure and function, cellular
energetics, the flow of genetic information in cells, cellular communication
and organization into tissues, and, if there is time, the embryonic
development of plants and animals. We will also cover some basic organismal
physiology. We will also explore such controversial issues as genetically
modified organisms, gene therapy, and human cloning, which are prevalent
in both the scientific literature and the popular press.
