Below are a number of questions that you might use to focus a response on one of the manifestos.

1. What does Marinetti say about war? What is the role of violence?
2. Discuss how women were viewed based on Loy's manifesto. What does she think about social and marital roles of women and men?
3. What does Pound say about language and the role of the poet?
4. What does Cather say about modern novels and the notion of suggestion? (i.e. What does she mean by her metaphor of furniture?)
5. How does Williams use Spring as a metaphor for writing about imagination and creation?
6. How does Hughes discuss the creation of art as a contributor to racial identity, and how does he distinguish the two different art forms?
