Minutes of 10/29 meeting by Chris Mitchell

*Open Mic - 10:30am which is on Tuesday the 4th. We need to remember to put a bucket at the open mic, so donations can be made for a children's fund.

*It seems like our living wax museum idea has become something optional. Students are welcome to do it they wish and can be done at anytime on campus for that day.

*Ray Mcniece will be in the Selby Room on Wednesday, Nov. 12th at
12pm, everyone needs to bring their least favorite poem to read as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc6-3uPHxKs

*Our next meeting will not be until Wednesday, November the 12th at
12pm. I'm assuming we are just going to the Selby Room?

*Jenny made the suggestion of talking about Poetry more often which I couldn't agree more with. I much rather talk about and read poetry for the majority of class than coordinate dates and times for various events.

Minutes of 10/21 meeting by Prof. Culpepper

1. Our president, Christy V., will not be back this semester for health reasons, so our vice-president, Sarah, will be running the meetings.

2. Scary fashion show is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 30, around 7 p.m., but we need to make sure people are actually planning to participate.

3. We need to complete plans for Arts and Letters Day open mic, the "Living Wax Museum" service project, and fall ball.

4. Student club help is needed with the VOTE sculpture. Can we recruit some Scribes to help?

5. Poor attendance at meetings is getting to be a problem

Present: Sarah, Christy H, David, Prof. Ford, Prof. Culpepper

Minutes of 10/14 meeting by Prof. Culpepper

1. Voted to extend wedding poem and fashion poem deadlines until Oct. 20 and give bookstore gift cards as prizes.

2, Will check with Earl from library about mic for Swampside Express.

3. Mystery Train will be doing another show in January if we want to do that next semester.

4. David Kayashima has agreed to emcee Swampside Express.

Attendees: Adam, Christy H., Prof. Ford, Prof. Culpepper

Minutes of 10/8 meeting by Chris Mitchell

1. For fall ball coming up, we had 3 ideas that we seriously considered:

*A superhero theme
*A pagan theme (which I am in absolute favor for. It's very original, practical, inexpensive, and has a lot of creative potential)
*A mayflower theme (people can dress up as indians and we eat turkeys, apple pies, roast corn, wear feathers, sell candy apples or something)

2. The next two swamp scribe meetings will be held on Tuesday.

3. Next Swampscribe meeting, we need to discuss which characters we plan to be for
Living Wax Museum.

4. Mister Ford wanted me to remind him to put the microphone in the ampitheatre for the open mic on Arts & Letters or Fall Day. Are fall day and arts & letters on the same day?

5. The Art Club is making a big Vote sculpture, all
MCC students are welcome to decorate it with pictures, poetic phrases, etc.. Just be sure to not cover anyone else's work on there.

6. The fashion show is planned for Thursday, October 30th, at
8:00pm.

7. I should have made a better note of this one. All I wrote down was "give food to McNiecce". If anyone knows who McNiecce is, we are supposed to give her food.

People who attended last meeting:

1. Chris Mitchell
2. Anthony Smithingell
3. Jerry
4. Dustin
5. Mister Ford.
6. Christy Vazquez
7. Not Mister Culpepper

Minutes of 9/30 meeting by Chris Mitchell

Not much happened at the last meeting, basically we just said that Nov 4th is both Arts & Letters Day as well as Living Wax Museum Day. For Living Wax Museum Day, you dress up as your favorite character (it can be anyone, it doesn't have to be a literary character) and people will put money into your bucket to hear you talk. Your bucket will have your characters name on it and when they drop money in, you will say something that relates to your character in some way.

Christy also reccomended that we donate money to a school for the blind. I forgot how or where we were getting the money, but I'm sure Ford knows.

On monday, I will be giving my Fashion Show posters to Ford. I have 25 of them.

Minutes of 9/23 meeting by Chris Mitchell

\1. We need to come up with a motto and a logo for the club

2. In place of our poet not being able to make it, we will be doing something different instead for the 30th event:

Each member of the audience will be asked to write one line of poetry onto a piece of paper. They can write whatever they want as long as it is one line. We will pass a box or Culpepper's hat around the audience so each person can put their line in. We'll mix up all the lines in the box and have 10 or so people from swampscribes each randomly pick a line from the box. After our 10 people have each gotten a line, they will get together on stage and create a poem using only the lines they picked from the box.

3. Christy reccomended we bring food, drinks, etc to the 30th event.

4. The Halloween Writing Contest will be called "The Fashion Show From Hell". Contestants need to write a horror/spooky story. People who submit stories will be encouraged to dress up as a character from their story for a fashion show that will most likely be held on the 31st of October.

We need pictures of the event so we can add them to the anthology. The deadline for story submissions will be Oct. 17th.

5. The deadline for the Wedding Poem Contest is also on October 17th. The contest is looking for funny/sweet poems about the coming together of two people in love. The groom is a Charter Boat Captain who loves to fish in his sparetime, it is especially important to the bride that you try to incorporate this somehow into your poem. They are getting married on the 29th of November.

6. Adam is making the posters for the Wedding Poem Contest & Chris is making the posters for the Halloween Writing Contest.

7. The next swampscribes meeting will be next Tuesday in Room 331 at
2pm.

Minutes of 9/17 meeting by Chris Mitchell

*Linda Berring has been considered for the 9/30 Swampside Poetry Event

*I, Chris was nominated by Mister Ford to be the master of ceremonies for our 9/30 Swampside Poetry Event. I personally think that AJ or even Mister Culpepper would do a better job at presenting than I would, I'm not the most comfortable person when it comes to speaking in front of groups of people. But if Ford insists I go through with it, then so be.

*We discussed people doing fewer poems at a time to allow for everyone to be given a chance on stage.

*We are having a wedding poem contest for a fisherman who is marrying a woman. They both have kids from prior marriages. We talked about putting all the leftover poems in our anthology as well. Entries due the 17th of October, they will be getting married on the 29th of November.

*It was suggested that our poet (most likely Linda Berring) speak during the middle of the poetry readings instead of at the beginning or end of the event.

*Someone told Mister Ford that he should offer extra credit to his students who offer work to Elektraphog.

*Our president, Christy. Reccomended that we spend our money on Mystery Dinner Train Theatre in
Fort Myers.

*Adam mentioned us creating an artistic mural on a wall in honor or representation of the group.

*It was reccomended we meet in room 331 an hour or so before the event on the 30th to prepare, talk, and discuss what were going to do, etc.

*For Halloween. We talked about having a Urban Legend Contest and Jeanelle came up with the idea of having a Scary Fashion Show.
