OBJECTIVE
SOFTBALL
Softball is a game played with two teams and ten players on each team. Softball is derived from the game of baseball and is very similar. To play softball the equipment you will need is a ball, bat and a glove. The ball is twelve inches in circumference and weights slightly more than six ounces. The bat must not exceed thirty-four inches. The then players on a softball team consist of a pitcher, catcher, a first, second, and third basemen, a shortstop, left field, left center field, right and right center fielder. There are seven innings in a softball game. An inning consists of the period in which both teams have come up to bat and have three outs. You are considered out when an opposing player reaches first base with the ball legally in his possession before the runner touches the base. While advancing to other bases besides first, the runner must be touched with the ball or the glove that contains the ball before he touches the base. Another way to be out is after three strikes. A strike is applied to a pitched ball entering the strike zone above home plate which the batter either fails to strike at or strikes at and misses. The object of the game is to score as many runs as possible in the seven innings. A run consists of a player successfully making it from first base to home. The team with the most runs wins. That is the end of the game.
Subjective
Softball
Softball is a very casual and laid back game for the young at heart but unfortunately old in physique. A team consists of mainly overweight middle-aged men who are trying to recapture some portion of their youth. Most of these men have at some point played real baseball, so they know how to play and of course know every rule, but they are ready to bend them to have fun. There is no win or lose in this sport. The positions of pitcher and catcher are normally held by the guys who can’t dive or chase the ball any more. Other infield positions, held by relatively decent players are the first baseman, second baseman, a shortstop, and the third baseman. The outfield positions are right and left field, and normally these are okay players. The last outfield positions are the left center and the right center. These players are usually chosen because they are still able to run and throw the ball. There are seven easy going innings in a game, and outs are normally when the advancing runner gets tagged at the base by the basemen or their ball gets caught in the air. The object of this game is to get as many runs as possible and have a great time with friends before they can all quit and get down to the serious business of partying. End of game.
