WELCOME Distance Learning Student,

This Distance Learning class is a more advanced course than the traditional in-person class. You must have some basic computer skills, a working email account, and access to Microsoft Office or our computer labs in order to take this course. But I think you will find it a wonderful way to take CGS1570. If you want, please start the course now, before class officially starts.

Angel www.scfl.angellearning.com is your online "classroom" for this course. Each time you log in to Angel you will have access to the class resources that I have set up for you.

My Web site is: http://faculty.mccfl.edu/winterf/winterf.htm.

Click on the CGS 1570 link for your online syllabus; very specific directions are there.

Most of your assignments will be done using Microsoft Office. If you do not have MS Office or easy access to our computer labs, you should not take this course. You can use Office 97, Office 2000, Office XP, Office 2003, or Office 2007 for your assignments. The SCF labs have Office 2007. But Word assignments must be in .doc or .docx format; Excel assignments must be in .xls or .xlsx format. You can see this semester’s assignments by opening my online syllabus and clicking on the link for each assignment or going directly to the Grading Rubrics/Criteria folder at: http://faculty.mccfl.edu/WinterF/0ClassFolders/1570Office/1GradingCriteria/

ALL assignments will be submitted online with Angel through the [Assignment Dropbox].
1. Log on to Angel at: http://scf.angellearning.com
Use the same Username and Password (PIN) that you use to log into SCF Connect. Use your complete G00# (including the "G00").

2. Click on [Lessons] tab (see top of Angel window) to use the Angel [Assignment Dropbox].

3. Click on [Assignment Dropbox] to see links to each individual assignment

You will be dropped as a No Show if you do not successfully complete the 10 question extra credit Scavenger Hunt and upload your first assignment before the end of the first week of class.

ALL email for this class will take place by logging on to Angel at: http://scf.angellearning.com, and clicking on the [Communicate] tab.

Best Wishes for the course,

Professor Floyd J Winters
