Hi Distance Learning Student,

This Distance Learning class is a more advanced course than the traditional in-person class. You must have basic computer skills, a working email account, and access to Microsoft Office or our computer labs in order to take this course. During our busy hour and a half  orientation - the only class that we have before the Final Exam - I cover the syllabus, requirements for turning in assignments, how to turn in assignments, grading criteria, testing, logging on to Angel, and many more critical issues. It is very difficult to do a private 90-minute orientation for every student who misses this orientation.

My Web site is: http://faculty.mccfl.edu/winterf/winterf.htm.

Click on the CGS 1000 DL or the CGS 1570 Office link for your particular syllabus; very specific directions are there.

Most of your assignments will be done using Microsoft Office. If you do not have MS Office or easy access to our computer labs, you should not take this course.

All assignments will be submitted online with Angel through the Angel Assignment Dropbox.
1. Log on to Angel at: http://mccfl.angellearning.com/
Use your MCC Email Username (just the username, not the "@student.mccfl.edu") as your Angel Username and your MCC PIN as the Password. Your PIN should only have 6 digits in it.
2. Click on [Lessons] tab (see top of Angel window) to use the Angel Assignment Dropbox.

Be sure to check all Angel mail (see Communication link on the top of the Angel screen). All email for this class will take place through Angel email.

Any student signing up for a computer science distance learning class should be able to follow the directions that have been carefully written in the documents mentioned above.

A.  If you can follow those directions correctly and log onto Angel, without asking for help and

B.  If you can turn in the first assignment and the Scavenger Hunt quiz by the due date indicated on the syllabus, I will welcome you into the class. I sincerely hope that you are successfully able to login to Angel and submit your first assignments on time.

If for some reason you are unsuccessful with items A and B above

1. I will have to drop you from the class.

2. You may attempt to find a regular instructor who will let you into a traditional class late.

or

3. Sign up for the same class again next semester, and attend the single mandatory session.

Best wishes for your future studies.
