FTP General Settings

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and it is the simplest form of copying files from the any drive to the server. FTP Client software is not necessary to transfer files to the server; it can be done at the command prompt or by using the publish feature of your browser, but to make things even easier there are several freeware and shareware versions available. You may use any client you want. Regardless of which client you use you must have the following information:

Before you begin using the FTP Client:

Make new folder in your “My documents Folder” in the hard drive and name it WebSite. Make a new folder inside the new WebSite folder and name it your assigned web site folder. This will become your Site Label. The path to this folder will become your Local Root Directory.

The following are the settings for your FTP Client. You will obtain the information from the Web Development Team.

User ID: <<UserName>>

Password: <<Password">>

FTP Server Address: ftp.faculty.mccfl.edu

NOTE: You cannot open files while using the FTP Client. To look at or edit files you need to use your browser or web page editor.
